A preserved piece of firefighting and community history. 

The Huguenot Steamer is a historic site showcasing firefighting equipment from the 19th and early 20th centuries, including an 1884 Silsby Steamer, an 1856 Jeffers Hand Pumper, and a 1935 Maxim Ladder Truck. Built in 1884, the building also once served as a venue for silent films.

  • The museum is open to the public seasonally.

    2026 SCHEDULE:

    Open May through October, on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays.

    10:00 am until 12 noon.

  • The museum is free.

    Donations are accepted and greatly appreciated. The museum survives on donations.
    The museum is manned by the Oxford Firefighters Association who maintain the building and its equipment.

  • The Oxford Firefighters Association…the museum is a non-profit organization started by a group of former firefighters who are passionate about their craft and history. The museum is propelled forward for future generations by volunteer donating their time, hard work, elbow grease, talent, care, fun raising efforts, and generous donations.

  • The hall is not generally open to the public. That being said, interested parties should inquire with the museum on a case by case basis as we have allowed individuals or other organizations to utilize the hall when a waiver of liability is signed for small meetings etc. The maximum number of people is 30 people.
